The New Civil Engineer Graduate & Apprentice Awards are designed to recognise and reward the most inspiring civil engineering graduates and apprentices.

The talent of the new generation of civil engineers was celebrated on Friday, 25 November at the Institution of Civil Engineers headquarters at 1 Great George Street in London, with six young professionals crowned in front of key industry figures.

The high value graduates, degree apprentices and apprentices are placing on these awards is demonstrated by the 121 entries that were submitted this year. The candidates had to go through a rigorous judging process, with those shortlisted delivering a presentation on modern methods of construction and interviewed by a prestigious panel of judges. The judges of this year’s awards are senior team members of industry associations, clients, contractors and consultants.

Sotiris Kanaris, features editor of New Civil Engineer said in his opening speech at the gala ceremony:

“It wasn’t the sheer number of entries that made shortlisting for every category difficult but the quality of those entries, judges said. Most candidates showcased in-depth knowledge on industry issues and strong skills. That is why all the candidates that have been shortlisted should be very proud of themselves."

"During their presentation and interviews these candidates showed real passion for their job and determination to help the industry become more efficient and decarbonise."

Well done to our finalists, winners and all those who entered the awards!
